Well, his age is certainly going up, which he cannot stop, and so his performance is going in the inversely opposite direction, which is expected, as physical strength, reflex actions, mental alertness and stamina will obviously drop as he ages and it is thus no surprise that he is not performing to the level of the Hamilton from 6 or 10 years ago.

When there were poles asking which team has the strongest driver line up for the season before the season started, many people voted for Ferrari, followed by McLaren, then Mercedes a distant 3rd because Russell is normally a very underrated driver, paired with an unknown rookie. However, if new poles were taken today, I believe the Ferrari ranking would have fallen, as one of their highly antisipated driver is not performing to expectations, while the Mercedes ranking would have gone up, seeing how consistant Russell has been and how really quick and consistant Antonelli is, even as a rookie.

If he continues being beten by Charles in qualifying and keeps finishing behind Charles in races, the most logical and likely thing for him to do is to announce his retirement at the end of the season rather than to prolong his agony by being constantly trashed by his team mate. His years of legacy drops a notch and his perceived talents as an F1 driver drops after every race weekend when he doesnt do well and is beaten by Charles. Just like Seb who realised that his best days in F1 is behind him and thus announced his retirement from the sport in 2022, I believe Hamilton (and similar with Alonso as well) they should know that they should be making way to give the opportunity for a talented young driver to be in F1.

Oh, I thought hamilton might have talked the team into going with black coloured overalls, like he did at Mercedes.

Compare both their junior racing records. Both of them have the two highest number of championships trophy collected before they joined F1. Max has 24, Kimi has 20. As a comparison, other top drivers, such as Russell and Charles has 14, Lando has 12, Hamilton has 11 and most others on the grid dont even have 8 in their trophy cupboard at home!

Well, that means Max will not be going to Mercedes as Toto is not going to let go of Kimi. He already missed signing Max when he was 17 years old and see how he is performing today, so he got his own "Max equivalent Callibre Driver" and will do everything possible to hang on to their Mercedes future world champion.

What Russell is saying is he should have already have been given Bottas' seat in 2020. Hamilton won that season in a dominant car, against a second rate team mate, so with Russell preforming better, he should have won the WDC that year. As for 2021, Hamilton's inability to capitalise on his track position advantage to keep Max behind him, resulted in him losing the title that year, so with Russell, just that 'little bit better', he should have won the WDC in 2021 as well. Standings in 2025 : Russell, 2 times WDC Hamilton, 6 times WDC Max, 3 times WDC.

Back to the same excuse again. A bad workman will always blame his tools rather than to admit that he is the one not being able to do a good job with the tools that he is provided with. This is even more evident when his collegue is able to do a far better job using the exact same tools which has been privided to them by their company. When you replace your tools with another brand and still cant get good results from it, then perhaps it is time to admit that its time to retire and maybe take up another vocation.

Alpine have let a gem of a driver slip through their fingers by hanging on to their two drivers instead of promoting a very promising youngster when they had the opportunity to. Mercedes didnt want to fall into the same situation by promoting a 'more senior' driver, but instead put their trust in Kimi, proves these days that how well a driver has been doing in his junior career does translate to good performances when they get to F1. Kuddos to Haas and Stake for hiring Bearman and Bortoletto, as both of them have good junior championship records as well. Not too sure about Hadjar or Doohan as neither of them have much success to show for in karting or junior categories, so we shall see how they do in F1. Pity Theo Pourchaire was never given an opportunity in F1 as his records was very impressive, much better than some of the rookies and even more senior drivers in the field.

After being in F1 for his 7th year, 2025 is probably the season when he has the highest probability of winning a Drivers Championship. All the stars seem to be alligning for him. He has got the best car in the field but he is also getting fiercely challenged by his very talented team mate. If he misses this opportunity and loses out to Oscar or Max or possibly even George, then it could be many more years before he gets the chance of a title shot again. With the new regulations coming in 2026, who knows which team will come up with the strongest car & driver combo?
